Are you all elfish these days? I’m a wrapping elf these days. This is a picture of one of two oatmeal containers we brought back from our visit to Florida last Christmas. They are wonderful cardboard tubes and I covered them with scrapbook paper. We don’t get oatmeal that way in Canada. We get it in double-wrapped paper bags. Isn’t it interesting that we live so close to each other, share so much, and yet there are always differences?
Last night we were delivery elves, taking Christmas hampers to families that need extra help this year. It was our first time doing it, although we’ve collected gifts and food for the program in the past. It was really rewarding. A surprisingly rewarding part of it: the fact that we needed to wait in a longish line to get our hampers each time we returned to the depot. A long line of local elves, all of us giving of our time to make things better.
You don’t have to save the world. You just have to change it.
