Normally, as life turns up the level of responsibility, I reach for simpler and simpler knitting. A piece of work my hands can do automatically, in any lighting and in any setting. Right now, though, I’m craving complexity. I think the inability I have to multitask while knitting the Anne of Cleeves shawl is an important part of this. It’s not a complicated lace, but I have to watch the stitches and count and pay attention.
I don’t want to multitask right now.
I am not knitting on the shawl very much but when I carve out a little time for a row or two it feels like a gift, a blessing.
