With this chart and this tutorial, I gave this very pink mama monster a heart. I’ve never tried intarsia before, and I can see doing it again to add little bits of flair. Because this was such a small chart, I actually carried the dark pink yarn across the back, twisting it up with the other if it was a long section. There were enough ends to weave in as it was.
To smarten up the edges and leave this important four year-old in no doubt as to what the shape really was, I used two of the 4 plies to embroider chain stitch around the edges. (Starting at the bottom and going up one side, then repeating for the other side so that it would look like it was a magical trick with the knit stitches.)
