I am currently homeschooling Grade 6 and 8, both boys. I have homeschooled for 25 (!!! How did that go by so fast?) years. 4 of our 7 highschooled at home, one went to Grade 12 in the public system. I love this stage where they begin to take on adult qualities, and the relationship becomes less parent/teacher with student and more of a fellow learner relationship. Aren’t kids great?
Have just found your blog and your previous posting was such a source of encouragement… I have a little boy who is dogged by a complex medical problem and since February 2010 has been “learning” at home. I’ve tried all sorts of curricular and planning and he seems less than enthusiastic!! Can’t blame him, he and I learn in different ways and I’m having to realise and accept this, in the area of acceptance I’m a very slow learner!!
happy first day of school!
I love the pics you chose to capture your day. The yellow and blue in the first one is lovely!
