summer off(ish)

summer school

I may have left something out. We’re not totally off this summer.

Yes, Matthias is wallowing in a world without schoolwork, but adrift without much screen time. Sandra, on the other hand, is doing a bit of work still. She’s got 20 lessons of math to finish which means doing it about twice a week, and she’s agreed to do something that will probably be called ‘Career Prep, half credit’ on her high school transcript. She’ll be reading 3 books to get a sense of who she is, what she loves, what she might do with her life, and how to go about it:
What Colour is your Parachute for Teens
College without High School
7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens

Happily, it’s not making anyone feel like it’s not a holiday.  I’m reading and reading.  Knitting.  Spinning.  And going to a million appointments.  How did that happen?  Sheesh.  Appointments throwing off my vacation mojo.

I am so grateful to you for posting earlier about the “College Without High School” book. While, for totally bad reasons, my son is stuck back in public school it did and IS helping him follow his passions.

    Thank you so much!

You’re very welcome. It is a great book for helping you define what you want, and then to sort out realistic ways to get it.
