Harry Potter und der Stein der Weisen
I’m right at the part where Harry and Ron have just met on the train and Ron has a smudge on his nose.
It’s working to deepen my German. There are some words I don’t understand now and then, but this is my bedtime reading and I’m not cuddling a dictionary under my pillow. If I’m really stuck I can ask Rainer, but since he’s doing his bedtime reading at the same time I don’t like to interrupt more than once a night.
How happy am I that I can read German with the one-tenth brain I have at night? Very happy. It’s working because I know the story and can focus on the language rather than the plot. Another bit of happiness: I haven’t ever read these books to myself. They’ve been read alouds for us.

Wow– your are one amazing woman. I never learned a second language. Guess there is still time to, but I have so many other irons in the fire it just may never get done.
