A Quote and a Question

the silence of snow on trees

“We cannot seek or attain health, wealth, learning, justice or kindness in general. Action is always specific, concrete, individualized, unique.”

Benjamin Jowett

Today I extend compassion to myself: I am allowing myself to stay in pyjamas all morning. What are you doing to be kind, learned, just, or wise?

I’m still in my jammies as well, but at around 11 AM I’ll be going to the gym and at 3 this afternoon I will help tutor kids at Omega Afterschool in Crystal River, FL. I tutor every Tuesday…

I let myself skip my run. I haven’t had 1 good night sleep for the last 4 nights, so I am listening to my body and letting it rest for today.

I am fighting the urge to rush. I really want to get to the library today–the involves getting everyone ready (presentable). We’ve been snowed in–so we look a mess! lol. I’m releasing the ‘rushing’ feeling and going with the flow…if we get there, we get there (deep breathe….exhaling…). That’s better! 😉

Yesterday the sun was out, and I worked in the garden for three hours — today it’s hiding again, and I’m still in my jammies, too!

I’ve needed both — the concrete action, and the slowing down to just be. Last week I got very little concrete done, just stewed in my hurried, unproductive, obsessive thoughts…

Trying to remember that my son’s atrocious learning habits were not learned overnight and that I can’t just rush him thru. Hard to stay mindful when it’s high school and he can up and quit on me on his 18th birthday!!!
