I traded preschool board meetings for hip hop dance class. This is going to make me look forward to Wednesdays instead of dread them. It gives ME something to drive MYSELF to instead of always driving short people around to do THEIR things.
I’ve chosen to include Monday date nights, alternating one-on-one time with each of my three kids and my husband. Last night I took my teenage son out for a burger (amazing how junk food gets him talking!), but sometimes our date could consist of making a hot drink and reading aloud a novel together… or maybe a game of chess or battleship.
Going through the application process for La Leche League leader. Adds a little extra cognitive challenge (like taking a course) and something to look forward to (giving back).
I’ve chosen to seek out another whole community for me and my kids, in addition to our church community (where I work). So now we are going to every homeschool group event in town, until we have new friends and know these folks.
This fall we quit the homeschool park day that we used to attend weekly since about 2001. Now we have a whole afternoon added to our lives every week. The morning is more relaxed and the whole day is calmer and more productive too.
